ChatGPT Advertising for Law Firms

Evaluate a new advertising channel with clear expectations

Determine whether ChatGPT advertising fits your firm

Prospective clients are using ChatGPT to understand legal issues, explore possible next steps, and compare their options. ChatGPT advertising gives some law firms a way to appear during relevant moments in that research process.

For legal advertisers, the opportunity remains limited. Eligibility and approvals can change, campaigns may require repeated revisions, and the channel has not yet demonstrated consistent direct-response performance for law firms.

Array offers ChatGPT advertising selectively. We connect campaign strategy, educational content, account approvals, website engagement, and intake measurement so firms can run a controlled pilot and decide whether the channel deserves continued investment.

What law firms should know before testing

ChatGPT Ads is still developing, and legal services receive greater policy scrutiny than many consumer categories. A campaign can be approved and later disapproved as the platform, review systems, or interpretation of a destination page changes.

Approval is not permanent

Account verification does not guarantee that every campaign, advertisement, or landing page will remain eligible. Array monitors approval status, identifies likely policy conflicts, revises campaign materials, and resubmits eligible ads when appropriate.

Direct response remains unproven

ChatGPT advertising should not be treated as a dependable source of signed cases. For law firms, the channel is better positioned as an early test of visibility, content engagement, and assisted conversion rather than a replacement for established search advertising.

Not every firm is a fit

A pilot is more appropriate when the firm has sufficient geographic reach, useful educational content, a testing budget, reliable intake tracking, and the capacity to evaluate an emerging channel over time.

Advertising based on context and intent

ChatGPT Ads work differently from traditional keyword-based advertising. The platform considers signals such as conversational context and intent, advertiser-provided guidance, ad messaging, landing-page content, campaign settings, and expected outcomes.

Array develops campaigns around the situations and research stages in which a firm’s educational resources may be relevant. Context guidance helps the platform evaluate potential matches, but it does not target exact prompts or guarantee placement in a particular conversation.

Advertisers cannot see private conversations or the individual prompts that led to delivery. Optimization depends on campaign-level reporting, content engagement, creative testing, and downstream analytics.

Account setup and eligibility review

ChatGPT advertising is managed through OpenAI Ads Manager. The firm creates and owns its advertiser account, establishes billing, completes verification, and gives Array the access required to prepare and manage an approved pilot.

Array helps configure the firm’s business information, account region, currency, time zone, business classification, brand assets, billing, user access, and required verification details. We also review whether the firm’s practice areas, market, website, and content support a responsible test.

Access varies by market and advertiser category. Legal-services advertisers may require individual review and approval under OpenAI’s advertising policies.

A content-led strategy for legal advertisers

For law firms, educational destinations have provided a more practical path than direct-response practice-area pages. Array prioritizes useful blog posts, guides, and resource pages that answer a clear question without making the advertisement feel disconnected from the user’s research.

Start with the right destination

Array reviews the firm’s content library for resources that are specific, accurate, useful, and aligned with an eligible conversational context. When the existing library is not sufficient, we identify the content needed before recommending a campaign.

Connect education to the next step

A resource page should help the reader first. It can then provide a clear, appropriate path to learn about the firm, explore related information, or contact the intake team when the reader is ready.

Campaign strategy built for a controlled pilot

Array defines the pilot around a limited set of practice areas, content destinations, geographic requirements, and research contexts. The initial budget and testing period are set to produce enough information for a decision without treating the channel as a proven acquisition program.

Messaging designed for conversation

ChatGPT ads should clearly explain what the resource offers, who may find it useful, and what the reader can expect after clicking.

Array develops titles, descriptive copy, images, context variations, and calls to action that align with the destination page.

Geographic scale matters

Tightly limited service areas may produce too little delivery to support a meaningful test. Array evaluates the firm’s geography before launch and may recommend against a pilot when the potential audience is too narrow.

Landing pages prepared for approval and engagement

OpenAI reviews advertising destinations before campaigns can deliver. Array checks message alignment, content quality, mobile usability, page speed, technical accessibility, disclosures, advertising policies, and applicable professional-responsibility requirements.

Because approvals can change, landing-page readiness is an ongoing responsibility. Array monitors disapprovals, reviews possible causes, and updates eligible content or advertising materials when a revision is justified.

Campaign launch and ongoing management

Once the account, content, campaign structure, creative, billing, approvals, and measurement systems are ready, Array manages the pilot launch.

Ongoing management includes delivery reviews, budget and bid adjustments, approval monitoring, creative revisions, content testing, engagement analysis, and coordination with the firm’s other marketing channels.

If approval instability, limited delivery, weak engagement, or operational demands outweigh the potential value, Array may recommend pausing or ending the pilot.

Measurement designed for an emerging channel

Ads Manager reports measures such as impressions, clicks, spend, click-through rate, cost per click, cost per thousand impressions, and conversions. Array uses these measures to understand campaign behavior, not to imply that early activity will produce predictable case flow.

Evaluate the complete path

When systems allow, Array connects campaign data with website analytics, call tracking, CRM, and intake information. Reporting can examine content engagement, qualified inquiries, consultation requests, assisted conversions, and any signed cases influenced by the campaign.

Make a clear next decision

Each pilot should end with a recommendation to continue, revise, expand, pause, or stop. The decision is based on approval stability, delivery, engagement, downstream activity, firm economics, and the operational effort required to maintain the campaign.

Test selectively, then decide

ChatGPT advertising may give some law firms another way to support visibility and engage prospective clients during early research. It is not yet a broadly proven conversion channel for legal advertisers.

Array provides the structure needed to determine whether a pilot is appropriate, manage it through changing approval requirements, and evaluate what the investment actually produces.
